I graduated medical school from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1989 and after that I completed a general surgery residency at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. Following that training, I did plastic surgery training in New York and then I did a hand surgery fellowship for a year in Portland at Oregon Health Sciences University and then moved in 1997 here to Santa Barbara and had a solo private practice in plastic surgery since then. I have always enjoyed plastic surgery even as a medical student and I enjoyed the fact that plastic does not focus on one area of the body but there is a variety and so it is very technique dependent which suited my personality and perhaps my background as an engineer. I am board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Board of Surgery, and I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I am a member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
